Artist's Comments
Project I've been working on in metalsmithing for several weeks. This is a 2" cubed, forged copper box with a dragon design roller-pressed into the side of it, then coloured using Prismacolor Pencils. The photo doesn't do it justice. I'm really pleased with how it came out.
Despite being pleased with it, I really want to do it again. I learned a lot about soldering and surface treatments while doing this, so I think it could be even better if I were to do it again from square one.
I was reading The Hobbit when I started working on this piece, so I think I might call the piece "Smaug."
