I'm terribly excited because today I got myself a new toy: A Canon 40D! I'm already in love with it. It's so spiffy, and it has manual focus! I've missed that so much with my S2IS, not that I don't love the little guy, but the lack of good manual focus, and a fast shutter drive me a little batty.

I can't wait to get some good shots to put up.

So...

I've been out of school for about a month and haven't managed to catch up on the deviant stuff. I've been strangely busy.

I had a wonderful time with ~Catchmandkillham when he visited for my graduation (which was awesome), and we took lots of pictures. Sadly, I haven't even looked through those pictures yet! Soon...hopefully.

Graduation went smoothly, I didn't even trip on the stage. It helped that I did have to go up any stairs, but I'm still impressed with myself on that count. I ended up graduating Cum Laude with my BA in English Literature. I also got to graduate with my Student Athlete sash, which was very special. It was nice for them to recognize the effort we athletes put in to be able to balance our sports and our academics.

Since graduation I've been working my butt off! I've been doing some graphic design work for my local Renaissance Faire, trying to pump up the advertising so we can do better than break even this year. For those in the Sacramento area, the information can be found here --> [link] Remember, a portion of our proceeds benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, so it's a great cause. Also, it should be a lot of fun this year. Several new vendors and attractions, including the Sacramento Shakespeare Co. They'll be putting on a great show! Keep a lookout in the Sacramento Bee for an ad and a coupon for $2 off adult admission.

In addition to the graphic design stuff for faire, I've also been working on costumes: my own, my brothers, and his girlfriend's. I have no idea if I'm gonna get mine finished in time, but there'll be costume rentals at the Faire, so I can also borrow a couple pieces if I don't quite get mine done. I'll have to get pictures of my brother in his costume. His is rather piratey looking, and it suits him well. I haven't seen his girlfriend all dressed up yet, but I'm sure she'll look lovely.

I have some metal work to post as well. Again, I've taken pictures of the work, but haven't had a chance to actually go through the photos and get them ready for posting. >.< Soon.

Art-type things aside, I've been working near full time at Peet's coffee again, which is actually very good. Not only because I'm making money again (yay!) but I also really enjoy what I do. Silly, mayhaps, but it's a fun job with good people. Lots of friends.

As if all that were not enough to keep me busy, I'm in the process of moving! That's right, I'm leaving the Sacramento area. Although I dearly love many of the people I've met here, I am NOT a city girl, so it's back home to Sonoma County for me! I'll enjoy being back home since I've really missed being with my family while I've been at school, but I'll also get to work with my private pole vault coach again, and I'll be assistant coaching for his club. It's also looking like I'll be assistant coaching track at my old high school as well! :w00t: So clearly, I'll be busy as always. :)

So all of that for the purpose of explaining why I have over 500 message in my inbox here on deviant. Over three hundred of those are deviations, and I'm gonna try to look at all of them over the course of the next few days. I probably won't be commenting on all of them, but I will be looking and admiring, and I'm looking forward to seeing all your lovely art again! Speaking of which, it's about time to go start enjoying. Hope you all have a lovely evening!

I'm edjumacated!

Finished my thesis and my portfolio yesterday, finished my metalsmithing project today and I'm D-U-N with college! ;)

I have my last college track meet this Saturday, vaulting in the Big Sky Conference Championships.

~Catchmandkillham is coming to visit my Sunday, we're going to the SF Zoo on Monday, and on Friday I get to walk across the stage to receive my diploma!

I'm on cloud nine! I never thought I'd get through it all, but I've survived, and I'm so happy!

Have a happy weekend all!

, Michi

I'm a bad person

I really want to be so evil right now. I was browsing through the daily deviations, and noticed that someone left a comment on one of the pieces that said "eh... not impressed." And that was it; no explanation. Now, I realize that DD's tend to be fodder for this kind of crap because they receive extra attention for being on the front page for a day, etc. And perhaps the comment is really misdirected and it meant to go to whomever selected the DD, but it still nags at me. Whenever I see that I have the urge to do one of two things. The first is to laugh at how stupid that person is because they can't see past their own jealousy and direct their "unimpressedness" at the GD who DD'd the piece. The second, and the one I really want to do tonight, is go pick a random deviation from that person's gallery and leave precisely the same comment. Of course, I'm too non-confrontational to do that, but oh, how I really want to.

In other news, my piece in the show did not win a purchase award. :( Oh well. Other shows, other days. :)

My piece Pepsi-Cola got in to the Student Purchase Show at my School! Only twenty-one pieces made it into the show, so I'm very excited. I also submitted Myst, and though it didn't make it, I might have a buyer for the framed print. I'm very excited about that. ^_^

For those of you in the Sacramento area looking for something to do this Thursday night (May 8), the show reception and awards will be in the CSUS Student Union Gallery from 5:30-7pm. If you can't make it, but are still interested in taking a look, the show will be up until May 22. :aww:

:excited:

I'm also very excited because my boyfriend, ~Catchmandkillham, will be here in 12 days!

Guess that means I should go work on the final projects I need to get done between now and then. ;)
